How we work

Figures in each calculator come from you. We show the arithmetic and its assumptions; we do not invent breed averages, claim frequencies or “typical” vet bills as facts. PawMath is an independent publisher, not an insurer, agent, broker or veterinary clinic. These pages provide general education, not insurance, veterinary, legal or financial advice. Policies exclude pre-existing conditions and apply waiting periods; read the contract. This site does not sell insurance quotes via fake forms.

Frequently asked questions

What calculators does PawMath offer?

PawMath has five calculators: break-even, claim payout, plan compare, deductible versus premium, and vet emergency fund versus insurance. Each one uses only the numbers you enter.

Does PawMath tell me to buy pet insurance?

No. The tools report arithmetic from your inputs. They never tell you to buy or skip a policy, and they do not rank insurers.

Is PawMath an insurer, broker or veterinary clinic?

No. PawMath is an independent educational site. It does not sell policies, collect quote leads through fake forms or provide veterinary advice.

Why are breed averages not used as defaults?

Claim frequencies and breed cost averages are easy to invent and hard to verify for your pet. PawMath asks you to supply premiums, deductibles and sample bills, and labels example defaults as examples only.

Which sources does PawMath cite?

Guides cite the NAIC pet insurance topic page and Triple-I articles on pet insurance facts and pet ownership statistics. Your policy wording still controls what applies to you.
